Can The Real News exist in the U.S...and other questions...

Added a post Dec 18 2007

Americans, more so I think than many other cultures, want to be entertained. We are not interested in understanding the world just how we can pass our free time being entertained by it. Politics ha... Read More »

Kacy, Have you ever heard of carrying capacity? It's a fundamental ecological law. Any given habitat can sustain only a certain number of a particular species. It's a function of food supply and o... Read More »

Whoso would be a man must be a nonconformist
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

The measure of a country's greatness is its ability to retain compassion in times of crisis.
-Thurgood Marshall

Some men look at constitutions with sanctimonious reverence, and deem them like the ark of the covenant, too sacred to be touched.
-Thomas Jefferson

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress.

Short Story: The Id of King George

A bit outdated.

The tall and attractive press secretary sauntered into the Great Hall to announce the arrival of the Emperor for his daily audience. “All rise and be informed that anyone seeking audience with the Grand Omnipotent Potentate, the Revered Communicator, the Wise and Infallible Decider, Emperor of the New World Order, His Excellency George Bush the First, may approach and be recognized.” She took two steps back and waited for the Emperor’s entrance, head bowed and hands fol…

Revew of two books that are must reads for politcal junkies

Book Reviews:

Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, Penguin Publishing, 2006
The Secret History of the American Empire, Dutton Books, 2007

John Perkins’ two books, Confessions of an Economic Hit Man (Confessions) and The Secret History of the American Empire (SHAE) contains as much international intrigue and espionage as a Tom Clancy novel. However, there is one remarkable difference. The Perkins’ books

No Nat, I can't say it does. I looked around the web but found nothing of consequence, although the Commonwealth Games will be held in Delhi at that time.

Well said my friend, on the topic of the Masonic Order!!! But I still love conspiracy theories, as you said in your reply, they are connected some how.

I hope you're right Mike. You seem to have a better feel for public sentiment for impeachment than I. I don't feel the anger over Bush. I feel some resignation over the war and the administration's f@*k-ups but not anger, with some exceptions of course. Every day I see cars with "I support Bush" bumper stickers and I live in Massachusetts! I can only imagine what the highways of Nebraska looks like. I guess we'll se in September. If I read the word impeachment in the corporate papers, then the tide for the neocon-men would have turned.

Murfie, I dig your crazy glasses.

I do try to repress expressing my desire for the type of justice that our flawed leader deserves.

No need to talk to any nice young men in suites about baseless vague talk.

The crimes committed by this administration will hopefully be addressed by this congress. I do see signs of ducks being lined up over the summer recess.

Things like Republicans getting an ear full from angry constituents. Every Republican congress person is up for re-election as is 1/3 of Republican Senators.

It's been 34 years since Watergate, if the Republicans want to hang around in any significant numbers they are going to have to support the impeach of Bush or for all practical purposes, disappear.

I'm excited about the Real News concept. I've been discouraged over the right wing bias of our so called left wing media for many years. I've sought out alternative sources of news and opinion without much success. PBS has gone corporate after being extorted by congress. Air America failed in the Boston area. Can you believe it, in Boston? I have to go overseas to find the real scoop. I hope this format can provide the balance I'm looking for. I've subscribed and am hopeful for the freedom of the press.
