I'm a graduate student in 19th century American Literature, and would like to be more informed about international political issues.

Corporate media doesn't seem to offer an intelligent or unbiased presentation of facts, let alone analysis. The top-down system of information is too susceptible to propaganda and manipulation, so the best alternative seems to be an online community dedicated to the rational understanding and presentation of important issues. This site appears to be one of the best models for this kind of system I've come across so far.
I'm interested in models for transparently funded non-governmental organizations that promote free exchange of ideas at a global, human ,level.
I think the current emergency in politics calls for more rigorous thinking at the level of the funding and management of politics, and I think this should have priority for the moment over the content of political platforms, right or left.
